An Aeroplane Stopped

  • “An Aeroplane Stopped…
  • In the middle of my sky.”
  • 48” x 42”, acrylic on stretched canvas, 1997

I understand that the title of this painting was one of the French writer Simone de Beauvoir’s shorthand ways of registering how her life was less than it could be – in that moment. As your eye moves across the top of this painting from left to right, life becomes rockier – as I imagine what a six-year-old may see.
